Priyanka Chopra reveals the “biggest obstacle” she has faced as an Indian actor in Hollywood: “It was the limited view of what I was capable of”

Priyanka Chopra will next star in Russo Brothers-produced series Citadel which is Prime Video’s second costliest web series. Starring alongside Richard Madden, the sci-fi series marks her first international project in a while. The actress has been actively working in Hollywood and admits that she has seen a massive change in the industry. When asked what’s the biggest obstacle she has faced as an Indian actor, the actress said that it was the limited view of what she was capable of. “I think what really changed is streaming. When streaming came in, the need for globalization became just important. The biggest obstacle that I think I faced as an Indian actor was the limited view of what I was capable of. It has been a massive change and I am very, very proud to have colleagues and peers that have the strength and the bravery to be able to swim through a dense water that has kept us out for a very long time, and actually demand a seat at the table," Priyanka said in an interview to Bloomberg. “When it comes to the arts, we are always going to push the envelope to make sure more inclusion happens,” she added. Ahead of the series premiere, Prime Video has reportedly renewed the Russo Brothers' produced series Citadel ahead of the April 28 debut of season 1. The series is headlined by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. From Amazon Studios and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, Citadel is executive produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes for AGBO, with David Weil serving as showrunner and executive producer. Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg serve as executive producers for Midnight Radio. Newton Thomas Sigel and Patrick Moran also serve as executive producers.
