Joy Forum 2025: Salman Khan shares GOLDEN rule for heroes: “A film should make you 25% a better person when you walk out of the theatre… a mother should want a son like you, a girl should want a husband or boyfriend like you”

On Friday, October 17, history was made as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan graced the 2025 edition of Joy Forum at the SEF Arena, Boulevard City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Salman was the first to be welcomed on stage, followed by SRK and Aamir.

Salman Khan said, “I was 13 or 14 when I went to see this film called Enter The Dragon (1973). When I came out of the theatre, I thought I was Bruce Lee. And I got beaten up! But due to the impact, I realized one thing that when you come out of a theatre, somebody should want a son like you. A mother or a father should want a son like you, a sister should want a brother like you, a girl should want a husband or boyfriend like you. When you come out of a theatre, you should go back home at least 20-25% a better person. That is the character that is liked.”

He continued, “So, he (Shah Rukh Khan) is liked by all the women. They feel that ‘I want a son or brother like him’. Now, we have come to a stage where they see us and wish ‘I want a father like him’. Very soon, it’s going to be ‘We want grandfathers like them’ (smiles).” The audience laughed and clapped at this point.

Salman also observed, “None of us call ourselves stars. We don’t believe in it. Some journalists mention ‘Salman Khan, star’, ‘Shah Rukh Khan, superstar’ or ‘Aamir Khan, super-duper star’! We don’t believe it at all. At home, we are just like everyone else. I still get yelled at by my father and my mother. I still get told by my sisters and my brothers (sic). So, we are just normal human beings. It's just that so many people who we work with, they are the people who portray average, mediocre people like me, not them (pointing at Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan), to look like a God on screen. So, the credit is not ours. It is your DOP, your director, your writer and then, the people and fans who want to see Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt on screen and they like what they see on screen.”
